iAssay and Fio Collaborate to Provide HIPAA-Compliant Cloud-based Remote Patient Test and Analytics Reports in Internet Portals, Expanding Access for Point of Care Testing
San Diego, Calif. – August 5, 2019 – Virtual healthcare technology providers Fio Corporation and iAssay, Inc are collaborating to support their shared mission to improve healthcare access at the point of care (POC). The goal of the collaboration is for patient test results from handheld iAssay diagnostics devices to be sent automatically to Fio’s Cloud where test results and analytics can be remotely viewed on a Fio portal anywhere in the world, in real time, with HIPAA compliance.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with Fio on this very important cutting-edge initiative, which will provide the capability for connected diagnostic testing using finger-stick blood, urine, and saliva samples at home, in a doctor’s office, or at a remote reference laboratory test-data collection point. These capabilities enhance patient compliance, eliminate sample transportation, and extend the reach of primary care providers and reference laboratories,” said Lonnie Adelman, CEO of iAssay, Inc.
Through the project, which has begun its pilot phase this year, healthcare providers will be able to review specific patient test results such as electrolytes, BUN, CRP, and hemoglobin. Regulatory-compliant customized reports based on data collected from patients, including associated parameters such as geo-location, date/time of interest, demographics, device-and service-performance, and quality-control metrics are also included in the system capabilities.
“When distinct innovations, such as those of iAssay and Fio, are integrated in a collaboration, patient care, healthcare economics, and companies all benefit. To increase our mutual capability to serve the connected, decentralized healthcare sector, one of the largest and fastest growing healthcare markets, by collaborating with Lonnie and the iAssay team is exciting,” said Michael Greenberg, CEO of Fio Corporation.

The iAssay® System (Protected by US Patent #10,309,954, other patents pending) is the world’s 1st Open Platform for wirelessly-connected Point of Care diagnostics. The functionality of a closet full of single function readers is replaced by a single handheld device and adaptor plug-ins, to adapt nearly any Point of Care test cartridge to the iAssay® System. The device HIPAA-compliantly aggregates test/patient/wearables data and transmits all data to The Cloud. iAssay eliminates multiple daily trips with blood samples to central labs by testing the patient wherever they are. Testing at a clinic or at the patients’ bedside, doctor’s office, or other remote locations in a few minutes eliminates test result delays, reduces costs, and improves patient outcomes.
